As part of its effort to attract and develop talented people for our portfolio management team SKAGEN Funds has established a two-year trainee program within its portfolio team.

The aim of the two-year program is to give a unique and accelerated introduction into global financial markets and help the right candidate(s) develop the skills required to become an equities portfolio manager.

As a trainee you will be assigned to different parts of SKAGEN’s portfolio activities. This will involve being a member of the SKAGEN Global or SKAGEN Kon-Tiki team as a trainee portfolio manager. You will, however, contribute across all three equity teams to learn how to implement SKAGEN’s valuebased investment philosophy on a day-to-day basis. This will involve taking part in fundamental research, company meetings, idea generation and documentation as well as supporting the funds’ external communications.

What we offer:

  • personal mentoring by some of the leading global long-only equities fund managers
  • formal as well as on-the-job training in all disciplines relevant to anyone wishing to quickly
  • become a value-based portfolio manager. Disciplines will include company analysis, risk management, portfolio construction, trading and general research
  • an opportunity to work within a very flat and small organization where your work and ideas will
  • make an impact from day one

What we are looking for:

  • a genuine interest in financial markets and equities
  • very strong analytical skills
  • ability to both work and think independently
  • solid interpersonal skills
  • solid communication skills
  • fluent in one of the Scandinavian languages

We are ideally looking to hire recent or current graduates. The duration of the program is two years. The position will be located in Stavanger, Norway, but extensive international travel should be expected.

We would expect candidates to hold a relevant degree with strong academic credentials from a leading academic institution. Strong language skills are an advantage.

Application deadline: 15th December
Start trainee program: Autumn 2012
